NBC's Heroes: Chapter 4

4 Shows in and its only getting better!
Posted: Tuesday, October 17, 2006
I try to make a point of not doing the same article on the same topic just a few weeks apart, I think thats safe to say of most writers, but then again here we are, 4 weeks later, 4 episodes later and I'm reviewing NBC's Heroes again! Now does this suggest I'm not impartial? That I too have just become part of the ever expanding fan base of this show? That I have been swept up in the hype of a moment in comic books meets TV history and am now a badge wearing huge supporter of this show? Yeah, pretty much! I am a fan-boy, as a fan-boy I am entitled to loose all objectivity from time to time when it comes to an amazing TV show like this one. This show finally gives the comic book loving public as a whole something they can be proud of to watch, and declare they are a fan of, despite being let down with TV's past attempts to tap in comics as a genre in the past.

So lets dive in, 4 shows later and were going strong picking up speed and viewers, while characters powers are being established and defined in increasing detail. Stunning examples of these powers are demonstrated with each chapter (episode) in increasing detail, flight, mind control, regeneration, space time manipulation and many other new surprises seem to lay around every corner. Some characters personalities appear to have become more polarized, well defined, with most wanting to do the right thing, with some misguided as to as to how to achieve doing what is right. While other have double lives, a more blurred view of right and wrong, and some characters double lives are becoming way more obvious now after Chapter 4 then ever.

I will say without a doubt that geeks around the world cheered aloud while watching Chapter 4 the other night as did I when the scene featured Peter in an oddly blue lit, time frozen sub way car that led to the appearance of Hiro speaking perfect english, looking like a bad ass time traveling Samurai master that addresses Peter in the familiar making reference to his looking different without his scar, this strongly suggests that they know, or rather will know each other in the future where they will clearly not be living out the lives average Joe citizen. This scene along with the iconic glazed over eyes of Issac while he painted the future featuring Claire who of course is recently back from brain death to seek revenge on the grab assing jock that "Killed" her in chapter 3, well, this show is just, unbelievably amazing.

Well need I say more about this groundbreaking show? Do you realize now that if you have not been watching it that you should be? Are you as excited as the team at Heroic Arts that NBC officially announced that Heroes has been picked up for the entire season? Well to all of the above I can not see how you could possibly answer with anything other then YES!!! With a plot that is seemingly unpredictable, characters with ever expanding detailed and interwoven back stories and a looming Mega Disaster that threatens New York that will no doubt bring around the meeting and unification of many would be heroes on the show that we can all identify with, this show is just too much like our wildest comic book day dreams realized in full motion, living color to not love.

NBC's Heroes airs Monday nights at 9, and if you have been paying attention, it is in fact a must see!
